perfection is overrated

after watching natalie portman in black swan, i was inspired to write this post - perfection is overrated.  often times we stress over the perfect gift, having the perfect body, the perfect yoga pose, the perfect dance and so on and so forth, that we often don't take the time to enjoy what we do have already - the present - the gift of being alive and enjoying it.

this holiday, try not to get caught up in the pomp and circumstance that often inflates around this time.  instead, find your center - take a chapter from your childhood and try literally taking a time out.  remove yourself from the equation for just a few minutes when you find yourself getting in over your head.  when do you come back to whatever seemed overwhelming, you might be surprised to find yourself looking at the situation from a fresh perspective, be able to think more clearly and not dwell on the drama of it all so much, but rather get back to living.
