breathing in real life

yoga isn't just about the shapes you make with your body on the mat.  sure, the poses can be fun, challenging and/or make you feel real good, but to me it's how to take what you learn in your practice and apply it to real life.  think about it, the breath is what links all parts of your practice together and to you.

the next time you step on the mat, observe your breathing notice where it gets stuck and when it is most at ease.  try not to judge, just take note.  then when you feel your world turning upside down in the figurative sense, remember that your yoga has prepared you. think back to being in an inversion (e.g., headstand), when your were there in the literal sense!

the calmer your breath, the calmer your mind - wherever you find yourself in life.
